White rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) grazing with sunset in background, Mkhaya Game Reserve, Swaziland
For this image – taken in Mkhaya Game Reserve in Swaziland - I simply positioned myself down on the grass and waited for the 3 ton monster to come close and fill the frame. I fully trusted my guide, who insisted rhinos are almost blind and will ignore me (if I stay noiseless, that is). I only moved slightly to have the sun in the right position. I used a flash and a little bit of dodging in Photoshop, otherwise, no heavy postprocessing is involved in the photograph.
